Modi govt claims record number of Indians gave up their citizenship in 2022. Here’s why

Indians have given up citizenship in record numbers in the last few years. More than 1.6 million Indians have renounced their citizenship since 2011, including 183,741 this year, minister of state for external affairs V Muraleedharan told the Lok Sabha in a written reply on Friday.
